A Unique Risk Management Philosophy!

What is RAM?
The Risk Alignment Management System (RAM) comprises a process facilitated by a software system that enables you to:
  • Structure your business risks and the interventions required
  • Align resources to execution of these interventions
  • Manage these resources for minimisation of risk.

What will RAM do for you?
  • UNDERSTAND YOUR EXPOSURE. Risk insurance costs are high, as is the potential cost of uncontrolled development of risk situations. The logic for directly and effectively influencing your risk exposure is compelling, and more so if you are in the business of exposing yourself to the risk of others. RAM will help you structure your business risks into a set of interrelated components that can be communicated clearly, understood and acted upon.
  • INTERPRET AND SUMMARISE. Understanding the interactions of the contributing risk variables and the effects of interventions on them, and getting an interpreted risk status picture is crucial to effective management of risk situations. RAM provides a near-real time, consolidated overview of the risk status at each level of the risk tree.
  • PREVENTION VS INSURANCE. The objective is to lower the overall cost of risk. This can be achieved by implementing the correct risk strategies, which could include a combination of insuring, preventing and managing manifestation of risk situations. RAM will enable you to track corrective actions and their effects, and will give you an immediate indication of the efficacy of the interventions, and the resultant risk situation.
  • FOCUS. RAM will help you focus your resources on the risks that have the biggest impact.
  • EARLY WARNING. RAM enables you to identify problem areas immediately and to interactively drill down to identify causes of a worsening risk situation.
Why choose RAM?
  • RAM is so easy to use. Once you have defined your risk variables and the effects of interventions on them, you can model your risk management action plan very rapidly in RAM.
  • RAM is fundamentally sound and highly flexible.
  • RAM enables you to manage organizational and people performance through one interface, using one integrated system.
  • RAM interfaces to any legacy system to collect information on performance.
  • It is a world-class product that compares favourably to the best available in the world, yet it is proudly South African.
How does RAM work?

The RAM process comprises two modes:

Mode 1: Definition

Define your business risks into tangible components, which you need to manage (or at least monitor) in order to successfully limit your exposure. Every high-level risk component is broken down into a number of lower level components. You can develop this risk hierarchy as far as you wish.

Specify the interventions required on each of these risk components, and the performance required from each intervention.

Then align your resources to the execution of these interventions. This process enables you to align resource development to the risk interventions required.

Our experienced risks experts will guide and train you to run this process successfully.

Mode 2: Monitoring

RAM measures the achievement of your risk prevention objectives. Your risk exposure, translated into a hierarchy of risk components, is displayed as a colourful digital dashboard, showing your real-time performance measurements on each intervention objective. In this way, when you identify a problem area (the colour of this objective turns red!), you can drill down to identify the root cause of the problem.

The structure of your organisation is also presented on our digital dashboard. The work force or risk resources are presented as a colour coded list depicting individual resource performance in terms of successful risk management. The risk prevention objectives contributing to each resource's performance can also be seen. When you identify a problem area on your management level (eg, the gain the colour of this objective turns red), you can drill down to identify the resource responsible for the intervention.

RAM further enables you to evaluate the individual or resource capabilities in the light of those required to achieve the objectives. And finally you can plan the further development of your workforce for optimal risk management.
